There is almost no industry left that has not been impacted by the wave of technology in the last few decades. Even the roofing industry has seen an invasion of technologies. What tech is doing for the roofing world is something you have to see to believe.
Drones for Roofing Inspections
A big part of roofing is looking for trouble spots and areas that need repairs. It’s dangerous work climbing up onto someone’s roof to get a look around. That doesn’t have to happen anymore now that there are drones with attached cameras. Roofing contractors are using the drones to perform the safest roofing inspections ever. Nobody has to climb up on a roof anymore unless it’s to do repair work.
3D Printing a Roof
Printing things from 3D has taken the world by storm. You can print everything from a 2D badge to a full house! Roofing contractors are starting to work with companies that 3D print shingles allowing the contractors to install very durable shingles of hundreds of different colors. If a single shingle gets damaged, the contractor only has to order a single shingle printed by the 3D printing company, not an entire pack of shingles.
Self-Healing Shingles
In what has to be the most amazing bit of technology overall, the self-healing shingle has emerged. These shingles are made of special polymers that when damaged, “heal” themselves. The sun heats up the polymer shingles causing them to meld over the damage and “restitch” their structure to erase damage. The shingles can do this again and again, essentially recreating the roof as though it were new.
Want a Futuristic Technologically Advanced Roof?
If you want any of these technologies involved with your roofing repair or roof replacement, you have to ask contractors if they offer it. Keep in mind that while these roofs and services are really cool, they do not come cheap. Get an estimate before asking for these materials and services.
